Visions and Revelations

It is necessary to boast, although it is not profitable; but I proceed to visions and revelations of the Lord. It is necessary to boast, although it is not profitable; for I procede to visions and revelations of the Lord.
I know a man in Christ who fourteen years ago (whether in the body I don’t know, or out of the body I don’t know, God knows) such a man was caught up as far as the third heaven. I know a man in Christ who fourteen years ago (whether in the body I don’t know, or out of the body I don’t know, God knows) such a man was caught up as far as the third heaven.
And I know how such a man (whether in the body or apart from the body I don’t know, God knows), And I know how such a man (whether in the body or apart from the body I don’t know, God knows),
was caught up into Paradise and heard inexpressible words, which a man is not permitted to speak. was caught up into Paradise and heard inexpressible words, which a man is not permitted to speak.
On behalf of such a man I will boast; but on my own behalf I will not boast, except in regard to weaknesses. On behalf of such a man I will boast; but on my own behalf I will not boast, except in regard to my weaknesses.
For if I do want to boast I will not be foolish, for I will be speaking the truth; but I refrain from this, so that no one will credit me with more than he sees in me or hears from me. For if I do want to boast I will not be foolish, for I will be speaking the truth; but I refrain from this, so that no one will credit me with more than he sees in me or hears from me.
Because of the surpassing greatness of the revelations, for this reason, to keep me from exalting myself, there was given me a thorn in the flesh, a messenger of Satan in order to torment me – lest I should exalt myself. Because of the surpassing greatness of the revelations, for this reason, to keep me from exalting myself, there was given me a thorn in the flesh, a messenger of Satan in order to torment me – lest I should exalt myself.
Concerning this I appealed to the Lord three times that it might leave me. Concerning this I appealed to the Lord three times that it might leave me.
And he has said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for power is perfected in weakness.” Most gladly, therefore, I will rather boast about my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest upon me. And he has said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for power is perfected in weakness.” Most gladly, therefore, I will rather boast about my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest upon me.
Therefore I accept with weaknesses, with insults, with distresses, with persecutions, with difficulties, for Christ’s sake; for when I am weak, then I am strong. Therefore I accept with weaknesses, with insults, with distresses, with persecutions, with difficulties, for Christ’s sake; for when I am weak, then I am strong.

Paul’s Concern for the Corinthian Church

I have become foolish; you yourselves compelled me. For I ought to have been commended by you, for in no respect was I inferior to the most eminent apostles, even though I am nothing. I have become foolish in boasting; you yourselves compelled me. For I ought to have been commended by you, for in no respect was I inferior to the most eminent apostles, even though I am nothing.
The signs of a true apostle were accomplished among you with all endurance, by signs and wonders and miracles. The signs of a true apostle were accomplished among you with all endurance, by signs and wonders and miracles.
12:13 τί γάρ ἐστιν ἡσσώθητε ὑπὲρ τὰς λοιπὰς ἐκκλησίας, εἰ μὴ ὅτι αὐτὸς ἐγὼ οὐ κατενάρκησα ὑμῶν;
13 τί γάρ ἐστιν ἡττήθητε ὑπὲρ τὰς λοιπὰς ἐκκλησίας, εἰ μὴ ὅτι αὐτὸς ἐγὼ οὐ κατενάρκησα ὑμῶν;
For in what respect were you treated as inferior to the rest of the churches, except that I myself didn’t become a burden to you? Forgive me this wrong! For in what respect were you treated as inferior to the rest of the churches, except that I myself didn’t become a burden to you? Forgive me this wrong!
Listen, I am ready this third time to come to you, and I will not be a burden to you; for I don’t seek your things, but you; for children should not save up for their parents, but parents for their children. Listen, I am ready this third time to come to you, and I will not be a burden to you; for I don’t seek your things, but you; for children should not save up for their parents, but parents for their children.
But let it be, I myself didn’t burden you; nevertheless, being crafty, I took you in by deceit. But let it be, I myself didn’t burden you; nevertheless, being crafty, I took you in by deceit.
12:17 μή τινα ὧν ἀπέσταλκα πρὸς ὑμᾶς, δι᾿ αὐτοῦ ἐπλεονέκτησα ὑμᾶς; 17 μή τινα ὧν ἀπέσταλκα πρὸς ὑμᾶς, δι᾿ αὐτοῦ ἐπλεονέκτησα ὑμᾶς;
By any of those I sent to you, I didn’t take advantage of you, did I? By any of those I sent to you, I didn’t take advantage of you, did I?
12:18 παρεκάλεσα Τίτον καὶ συναπέστειλα τὸν ἀδελφόν· μήτι ἐπλεονέκτησεν ὑμᾶς Τίτος;
οὐ τῷ αὐτῷ πνεύματι περιεπατήσαμεν;
οὐ τοῖς αὐτοῖς ἴχνεσιν;
18 παρεκάλεσα Τίτον, καὶ συναπέστειλα τὸν ἀδελφόν· μή τι ἐπλεονέκτησεν ὑμᾶς Τίτος;
οὐ τῷ αὐτῷ πνεύματι περιεπατήσαμεν;
οὐ τοῖς αὐτοῖς ἴχνεσι;
I urged Titus, and I sent the brother with him. Titus didn’t take any advantage of you, did he? Didn’t we conduct ourselves in the same spirit? Didn’t we take the same steps? I urged Titus, and I sent the brother with him. Titus didn’t take any advantage of you, did he? Didn’t we conduct ourselves in the same spirit? Didn’t we take the same steps?
19 πάλιν δοκεῖτε ὅτι ὑμῖν ἀπολογούμεθα;
Already you are thinking that we are defending ourselves to you. In the presence of God we have been speaking in Christ; but all things, beloved, are for your edification. Already are you thinking that we are defending ourselves to you? In the presence of God we have been speaking in Christ; but all things, beloved, are for your edification.
For I am afraid that perhaps when I come I may find you to be not what I want and may be found by you to be not what you want; that perhaps there will be strife, jealousy, angry emotions, factions, slanders, gossip, arrogance, disorders; For I am afraid that perhaps when I come I may find you to be not what I want and may be found by you to be not what you want; that perhaps there will be strife, jealousy, angry emotions, factions, slanders, gossip, arrogance, disorders;
and again at my coming, my God may humble me before you, and I may mourn over many of those who have previously sinned and not repented of the impurity, sexual immorality, and indecency which they committed. and again at my coming, my God may humble me before you, and I may mourn over many of those who have previously sinned and not repented of the impurity, sexual immorality, and indecency which they committed.
