Paul and the False Apostles

I would that you bear with me in a little foolishness; but indeed you are bearing with me. I would that you bear with me in a little foolishness; but indeed you are bearing with me.
For I am jealous for you with a jealousy of God; for I betrothed you to one husband, so that I might present you as a chaste virgin to Christ. For I am jealous for you with a jealousy of God; for I betrothed you to one husband, so that I might present you as a chaste virgin to Christ.
Otherwise I fear that as the serpent deceived Eve by his craftiness, your minds may be corrupted from the simplicity and purity of devotion to Christ. Otherwise I fear that as the serpent deceived Eve by his craftiness, your minds may be corrupted from the simplicity of devotion to Christ.
For if someone coming, preaches another Jesus whom we have not preached, or you receive a different spirit which you have not received, or a different gospel which you have not received, you are tolerating it very well. For if someone coming, preaches another Jesus whom we have not preached, or you receive a different spirit which you have not received, or a different gospel which you have not received, you were tolerating it very well.
For I consider myself not to be deficient to the most preeminent apostles. For I consider myself not to be deficient to the most preeminent apostles.
But even if I am unskilled in speech, but I am not unskilled in knowledge; but in every way, revealing all things to you. But even if I am unskilled in speech, but I am not unskilled in knowledge; but in every way, revealing all things to you.
11:7  ἁμαρτίαν ἐποίησα ἐμαυτὸν ταπεινῶν ἵνα ὑμεῖς ὑψωθῆτε, ὅτι δωρεὰν τὸ τοῦ θεοῦ εὐαγγέλιον εὐηγγελισάμην ὑμῖν; 7  ἁμαρτίαν ἐποίησα, ἐμαυτὸν ταπεινῶν ἵνα ὑμεῖς ὑψωθῆτε, ὅτι δωρεὰν τὸ τοῦ θεοῦ εὐαγγέλιον εὐηγγελισάμην ὑμῖν;
Or did I commit a sin by humbling myself so that you might be exalted, because I freely preached the gospel of God to you? Or did I commit a sin by humbling myself so that you might be exalted, because I freely preached the gospel of God to you?
I robbed other churches by receiving wages from them to serve you; I robbed other churches by receiving wages from them to serve you;
and while being present with you and being in need, I did not burden anyone; for when the brothers came from Macedonia they fully supplied my need, and in everything I kept myself from being a burden to you, and will continue to do so. and while being present with you and being in need, I did not burden anyone; for when the brothers came from Macedonia they fully supplied my need, and in everything I kept myself from being a burden to you, and will continue to do so.
As the truth of Christ is in me, this boasting of mine will not be stopped in the regions of Achaia. As the truth of Christ is in me, this boasting of mine will not be stopped in the regions of Achaia.
11:11 διὰ τί;
ὅτι οὐκ ἀγαπῶ ὑμᾶς;
11 διατί;
ὅτι οὐκ ἀγαπῶ ὑμᾶς;
Why? Because I don’t love you? God knows I do! Why? Because I don’t love you? God knows I do!
But what I am doing I will continue to do, so that I may cut off the opportunity from those who want an opportunity in order to be considered just as we are in the things about which they are boasting. But what I am doing I will continue to do, so that I may cut off the opportunity from those who want an opportunity in order to be considered just as we are in the things about which they are boasting.
For such men are false apostles, deceitful workers, disguising themselves as apostles of Christ. For such men are false apostles, deceitful workers, disguising themselves as apostles of Christ.
Therefore it is no big surprise if his servants also disguise themselves as servants of righteousness, whose end will be according to their actions. Therefore it is no big surprise if his servants also disguise themselves as servants of righteousness, whose end will be according to their actions.

Paul’s Sufferings as an Apostle

Again I say, let no one think me foolish; otherwise, receive me even as foolish, so that I also may boast a little. Again I say, let no one think me foolish; otherwise, receive me even as foolish, so that I also may boast a little.
What I am saying, I am not saying as the Lord would, but as in foolishness, in this confidence of boasting. What I am saying, I am not saying as the Lord would, but as in foolishness, in this confidence of boasting.
Since many boast according to the flesh, I will boast too. Since many boast according to the flesh, I will boast too.
For you, being so wise, tolerate the fools gladly. For you, being so wise, tolerate the fools gladly.
For you tolerate it if anyone enslaves you, if anyone devours you, if anyone takes advantage of you, if anyone exalts himself, if anyone hits you in the face. For you tolerate it if anyone enslaves you, if anyone devours you, if anyone takes advantage of you, if anyone exalts himself, if anyone hits you in the face.
I say to my shame that we have been weak as such. But in whatever thing anyone else is bold (I speak in foolishness) I am also bold. I say to my shame that we have been weak as such. But in whatever thing anyone else is bold (I speak in foolishness) I am also bold.
11:22 Ἑβραῖοὶ εἰσιν;
Ἰσραηλῖταὶ εἰσιν;
σπέρμα Ἀβραὰμ εἰσιν;
22 Ἑβραῖοί εἰσι;
κἀγώ· Ἰσραηλῖται εἰσι;
κἀγώ· σπέρμα Ἀβραὰμ εἰσι;
Are they Hebrews? So am I. Are they Israēlites? So am I. Are they descendants of Abraham? So am I. Are they Hebrews? So am I. Are they Israēlites? So am I. Are they descendants of Abraham? So am I.
11:23 διάκονοι Χριστοῦ εἰσιν;
23 διάκονοι Χριστοῦ εἰσι;
Are they servants of Christ? (I speak as if insane) I more so; in far more labours, in far more imprisonments, beaten beyond measure, frequently close to death. Are they servants of Christ? (I speak as if insane) I more so; in far more labours, in far more imprisonments, beaten beyond measure, frequently close to death.
Five times I received from the Jews forty lashes minus one. Five times I received from the Jews forty lashes minus one.
Three times I was beaten with rods, once I was stoned, three times I was shipwrecked, I have spent a night and a day adrift in the depth of the sea. Three times I was beaten with rods, once I was stoned, three times I was shipwrecked, I have spent a night and a day adrift in the depth of the sea.
In frequent travels, in dangers from rivers, dangers from robbers, dangers from my countrymen, dangers from the Gentiles, dangers in the city, dangers in the wilderness, dangers on the sea, dangers among false brothers; In frequent travels, in dangers from rivers, dangers from robbers, dangers from my countrymen, dangers from the Gentiles, dangers in the city, dangers in the wilderness, dangers on the sea, dangers among false brothers;
in labour and hardship, in sleeplessness frequently, in hunger and thirst, frequently without food, in cold and with deficient clothing. in labour and hardship, in sleeplessness frequently, in hunger and thirst, frequently without food, in cold and with deficient clothing.
Apart from such external things, there is the day by day stress upon me of the concern for all the churches. Apart from such external things, there is the day by day stress upon me of the concern for all the churches.
11:29 τίς ἀσθενεῖ καὶ οὐκ ἀσθενῶ;
τίς σκανδαλίζεται καὶ οὐκ ἐγὼ πυροῦμαι;
29 τίς ἀσθενεῖ, καὶ οὐκ ἀσθενῶ;
τίς σκανδαλίζεται, καὶ οὐκ ἐγὼ πυροῦμαι;
Who is weak, and I am not weak? Who is caused to stumble, and I don’t burn with indignation? Who is weak, and I am not weak? Who is caused to stumble, and I don’t burn with indignation?
If it is necessary to boast, I will boast about the things that relate to my weakness. If it is necessary to boast, I will boast about the things that relate to my weakness.
The God and Father of the Lord Jesus knows, he who is blessed forever, that I am not lying. The God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ knows, he who is blessed forever, that I am not lying.
In Damascus the ethnarch under Aretas the king was guarding the city of the Damascenes to arrest me, In Damascus the ethnarch under Aretas the king was guarding the city of the Damascenes wanted to arrest me,
and I was let down in a basket through a window in the wall, and so escaped his hands. and I was let down in a basket through a window in the wall, and so escaped his hands.
