1 He, who being often reproved hardens his neck, shall suddenly be destroyed, and that without remedy.

1 A reprover is better than a stiff-necked man; for when the latter is suddenly set on fire, there shall be no remedy. 1 A reprover is better than a stiff-necked man; for when the latter is suddenly set on fire, there shall be no remedy.

2 When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice; but when the wicked bear rule, the people mourn.

2 When the righteous are praised, the people will rejoice; but when the ungodly rule, men mourn. 2 When the righteous are praised, the people will rejoice; but when the ungodly rule, men mourn.

3 Whoever loves wisdom rejoices his father; but he who keeps company with protitutes spends his substance.

3 When a man loves wisdom, his father rejoices; but he who keeps protitutes will waste wealth. 3 When a man loves wisdom, his father rejoices; but he who keeps protitutes will waste wealth.

4 The king by judgment establishes the land; but he who receives bribes overthrows it.

4 A righteous king establishes a country; but a transgressor destroys it. 4 A righteous king establishes a country; but a transgressor destroys it.

5 A man who flatters his neighbour spreads a net for his feet.

5 He who prepares a net in the way of his own friend, entangles his own feet in it. 5 He who prepares a net in the way of his own friend, entangles his own feet in it.

6 In the transgression of an evil man there is a snare; but the righteous sings and rejoices.

6 A great snare is spread for a sinner; but the righteous shall be in joy and gladness. 6 A great snare is spread for a sinner; but the righteous shall be in joy and gladness.

7 The righteous considers the cause of the poor; but the wicked doesn’t regard to know it.

7 A righteous man knows how to judge for the poor; but the ungodly doesn’t understand knowledge; and the poor man hasn’t an understanding mind. 7 A righteous man knows how to judge for the poor; but the ungodly doesn’t understand knowledge; and the poor man hasn’t an understanding mind.

8 Scornful men bring a city into a snare; but wise men turn away wrath.

8 Lawless men burn down a city; but wise men turn away wrath. 8 Lawless men burn down a city; but wise men turn away wrath.

9 If a wise man contends with a foolish man, whether he rage or laugh, there is no rest.

9 A wise man shall judge nations; but a worthless man being angry laughs and fears not. 9 A wise man shall judge nations; but a worthless man being angry laughs and fears not.

10 The bloodthirsty hate the upright; but the just seek his soul.

10 Bloody men hate a holy person, but the upright will seek his soul. 10 Bloody men hate a holy person, but the upright will seek his soul.

11 A fool utters all his mind; but a wise man keeps it in till afterwards.

11 A fool utters all his mind; but the wise reserves his in part. 11 A fool utters all his mind; but the wise reserves his in part.

12 If a ruler listen to lies, all his servants are wicked.

12 When a king listens to unjust language, all his subjects are transgressors. 12 When a king listens to unjust language, all his subjects are transgressors.

13 The poor and the deceitful man meet together: Yahweh enlightens both their eyes.

13 When the creditor and debtor meet together, the Lord oversees them both. 13 When the creditor and debtor meet together, the Lord oversees them both.

14 The king who faithfully judges the poor, his throne shall be established for ever.

14 When a king judges the poor in truth, his throne shall be established for a testimony. 14 When a king judges the poor in truth, his throne shall be established for a testimony.

15 The rod and reproof give wisdom; but a child left to himself brings his mother to shame.

15 Stripes and reproofs give wisdom; but an erring child disgraces his parents. 15 Stripes and reproofs give wisdom; but an erring child disgraces his parents.

16 When the wicked are multiplied, transgression increases; but the righteous shall see their fall.

16 When the ungodly abound, sins abound; but when they fall, the righteous are warned. 16 When the ungodly abound, sins abound; but when they fall, the righteous are warned.

17 Correct your son, and he shall give you rest; yes, he shall give delight to your soul.

17 Chasten your son, and he shall give you rest; and he shall give honour to your soul. 17 Chasten your son, and he shall give you rest; and he shall give honour to your soul.

18 Where there is no vision, the people perish; but he who keeps the law, happy is he.

18 There shall be no interpreter to a sinful nation; but he who observes the law is blessed. 18 There shall be no interpreter to a sinful nation; but he who observes the law is blessed.

19 A servant won’t be corrected by words; for though he understand he won’t answer.

19 A stubborn servant won’t be reproved by words; for even if he understands, still he won’t obey. 19 A stubborn servant won’t be reproved by words; for even if he understands, still he won’t obey.

20 Do you see a man who is hasty in his words? There is more hope of a fool than of him.

20 If you see a man hasty in his words, know that the fool has hope rather than he. 20 If you see a man hasty in his words, know that the fool has hope rather than he.

21 He who delicately brings up his servant from a child shall have him become his son at the length.

21 He who lives wantonly from a child, shall be a servant, and in the end shall grieve over himself. 21 He who lives wantonly from a child, shall be a servant, and in the end shall grieve over himself.

22 An angry man stirs up strife, and a furious man abounds in transgression.

22 A furious man stirs up strife, and a passionate man digs up sin. 22 A furious man stirs up strife, and a passionate man digs up sin.

23 A man’s pride shall bring him low; but honour shall uphold the humble in spirit.

23 Pride brings a man low, but the Lord upholds the humble-minded with honour. 23 Pride brings a man low, but the Lord upholds the humble-minded with honour.

24 Whoever is partner with a thief hates his own soul: he hears cursing, and doesn’t reveal it.

24 He who shares with a thief, hates his own soul; and if any having heard an oath uttered doesn’t tell it, 24 He who shares with a thief, hates his own soul; and if any having heard an oath uttered doesn’t tell it,

25 The fear of man brings a snare; but whoever puts his trust in Yahweh shall be safe.

25 they fearing and reverencing men unreasonably have been overthrown, but he who trusts in the Lord shall rejoice. Ungodliness causes a man to stumble; but he who trusts in his master shall be safe. 25 they fearing and reverencing men unreasonably have been overthrown, but he who trusts in the Lord shall rejoice. Ungodliness causes a man to stumble; but he who trusts in his master shall be safe.

26 Many seek the ruler’s favour; but every man’s judgment comes from Yahweh.

26 Many wait on the favour of rulers; but justice comes to a man from the Lord. 26 Many wait on the favour of rulers; but justice comes to a man from the Lord.

27 An unjust man is an abomination to the just; and he who is upright in the way is abomination to the wicked.

27 A righteous man is an abomination to an unrighteous man, and the direct way is an abomination to the sinner. 27 A righteous man is an abomination to an unrighteous man, and the direct way is an abomination to the sinner.
