1 And Isaac called Jacōb, and blessed him, and charged him, and said to him, “You shall not take a wife of the daughters of Canaan.

2 ἀναστὰς ἀπόδραθι εἰς τὴν Μεσοποταμίαν εἰς τὸν οἶκον Βαθουὴλ τοῦ πατρὸς τῆς μητρός σου καὶ λαβὲ σεαυτῷ ἐκεῖθεν γυναῖκα ἐκ τῶν θυγατέρων Λαβὰν τοῦ ἀδελφοῦ τῆς μητρός σου.	2 ἀναστὰς ἀπόδραθι εἰς τὴν Μεσοποταμίαν, εἰς τὸν οἶκον Βαθουὴλ τοῦ πατρὸς τῆς μητρός σου καὶ λάβε σεαυτῷ ἐκεῖθεν γυναῖκα ἐκ τῶν θυγατέρων Λάβαν τοῦ ἀδελφοῦ τῆς μητρός σου.

5 And Isaac sent away Jacōb; and he went to Padan-aram to Laban, son of Bethuel the Syrian, the brother of Rebekah, Jacōb’s and Esau’s mother.

8 And Esau seeing that the daughters of Canaan pleased not Isaac his father;

10 And Jacōb went out from Beer-sheba, and went toward Haran.

11 And he lighted on a certain place, and tarried there all night, because the sun was set; and he took of the stones of that place, and put them for his pillows, and lay down in that place to sleep.

11 καὶ ἀπήντησεν τόπῳ καὶ ἐκοιμήθη ἐκεῖ· ἔδυ γὰρ ὁ ἥλιος· καὶ ἔλαβεν ἀπὸ τῶν λίθων τοῦ τόπου καὶ ἔθηκεν πρὸς κεφαλῆς αὐτοῦ καὶ ἐκοιμήθη ἐν τῷ τόπῳ ἐκείνῳ.	11 καὶ ἀπήντησε τόπῳ καὶ ἐκοιμήθη ἐκεῖ· ἔδυ γὰρ ὁ ἥλιος· καὶ ἔλαβεν ἀπὸ τῶν λίθων τοῦ τόπου, καὶ ἔθηκε πρὸς κεφαλῆς αὐτοῦ καὶ ἐκοιμήθη ἐν τῷ τόπῳ ἐκείνῳ.

12 And he dreamed, and behold a ladder set up on the earth, and the top of it reached to heaven; and behold the angels of God ascending and descending on it.

13 And, behold, Yahweh stood above it, and said, “I am Yahweh Elohim of Abraham your father, and the God of Isaac: the land on which you lie, to you will I give it, and to your seed;

13 ὁ δὲ κύριος ἐπεστήρικτο ἐπ’ αὐτῆς καὶ εἶπεν, ἐγὼ κύριος ὁ θεὸς Ἁβραὰμ τοῦ πατρός σου καὶ ὁ θεὸς Ἰσαάκ· μὴ φοβοῦ· ἡ γῆ, ἐφ’ ἧς σὺ καθεύδεις ἐπ’ αὐτῆς, σοί δώσω αὐτὴν καὶ τῷ σπέρματί σου.	13 ὁ δὲ Κύριος ἐπεστήρικτο ἐπ’ αὐτῆς καὶ εἶπε· ἐγώ εἰμι ὁ Θεὸς Ἁβραὰμ τοῦ πατρός σου, καὶ ὁ Θεὸς Ἰσαάκ· μὴ φοβοῦ· ἡ γῆ, ἐφ’ ἧς σὺ καθεύδεις ἐπ’ αὐτῆς, σοί δώσω αὐτήν, καὶ τῷ σπέρματί σου.

14 And your seed shall be as the dust of the earth, and you shall spread abroad to the west, and to the east, and to the north, and to the south; and in you and in your seed shall all the families of the earth be blessed.

15 καὶ ἰδοὺ ἐγὼ μετὰ σου διαφυλάσσων σὲ ἐν τῇ ὁδῷ πάσῃ, οὗ ἐὰν πορευθῇς, καὶ ἀποστρέψω σὲ εἰς τὴν γῆν ταύτην, ὅτι οὐ μή σὲ ἐγκαταλίπω ἕως τοῦ ποιῆσαί με πάντα, ὅσα ἐλάλησά σοι.	15 καὶ ἰδοὺ ἐγώ εἰμι μετὰ σοῦ διαφυλάσσων σε ἐν τῇ ὁδῷ πάσῃ, οὗ ἄν πορευθῇς, καὶ ἀποστρέψω σε εἰς τὴν γῆν ταύτην, ὅτι οὐ μή σε ἐγκαταλίπω, ἕως τοῦ ποιῆσαί με πάντα ὅσα ἐλάλησά σοι.
15 And look! I am with you to keep guarding you in all the way in which you shall go; and I will bring you back to this land; because I won’t abandon you, until I have done all the things that I have spoken to you.”	15 And look! 16 And Jacōb awoke out of his sleep, and he said, “Surely Yahweh is in this place; and I didn’t know it.”

17 And he was afraid, and said, “How dreadful is this place! This is none other but the house of God, and this is the gate of heaven.”

18 And Jacōb rose up early in the morning, and took the stone that he had put for his pillows, and set it up for a pillar, and poured oil on the top of it.

19 And he called the name of that place Bethel; but the name of that city was called Luz at the first.

20 And Jacōb vowed a vow, saying, “If God will be with me, and will keep me in this way that I go, and will give me bread to eat, and clothing to put on,

20 καὶ ηὔξατο Ἰακὼβ εὐχὴν λέγων, ἐὰν ᾖ κύριος ὁ θεὸς μετ’ ἐμοῦ καὶ διαφυλάξῃ με ἐν τῇ ὁδῷ ταύτῃ, ᾗ ἐγὼ πορεύομαι, καὶ δῷ μοι ἄρτον φαγεῖν καὶ ἱμάτιον περιβαλέσθαι	20 καὶ ηὔξατο Ἰακὼβ εὐχὴν λέγων· ἐὰν ᾖ Κύριος ὁ Θεὸς μετ’ ἐμοῦ καὶ διαφυλάξῃ με ἐν τῇ ὁδῷ ταύτῃ, ᾗ ἐγὼ πορεύομαι, καὶ δῷ μοι ἄρτον φαγεῖν καὶ ἱμάτιον περιβαλέσθαι

22 And this stone, which I have set for a pillar, shall be God’s house; and of all that you shall give me I will surely give the tenth to you.”
