Jesus Answers the Sadducees
(Mark 12:18‑27; Luke 20:27‑40)

22:25 ἦσαν δὲ παρ᾿ ἡμῖν ἑπτὰ ἀδελφοί· καὶ ὁ πρῶτος γήμας ἐτελεύτησεν, καὶ μὴ ἔχων σπέρμα ἀφῆκεν τὴν γυναῖκα αὐτοῦ τῷ ἀδελφῷ αὐτοῦ· 25 ἦσαν δὲ παρ᾿ ἡμῖν ἑπτὰ ἀδελφοί· καὶ ὁ πρῶτος γαμήσας ἐτελεύτησε, καὶ μὴ ἔχων σπέρμα, ἀφῆκε τὴν γυναῖκα αὐτοῦ τῷ ἀδελφῷ αὐτοῦ·

‘I am the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacōb’?[3] he is not [the] God of the dead but of the living.” ‘I am the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacōb’?[3] God is not the God of the dead but of the living.”

22:37 ὁ δὲ ἔφη αὐτῷ, ἀγαπήσεις κύριον τὸν θεόν σου ἐν ὅλῃ τῇ καρδίᾳ σου καὶ ἐν ὅλῃ τῇ ψυχῇ σου καὶ ἐν ὅλῃ τῇ διανοίᾳ σου, 37 ὁ δὲ Ἰησοῦς εἶπεν αὐτῷ, ἀγαπήσεις κύριον τὸν θεόν σου, ἐν ὅλῃ τῇ καρδίᾳ σου, καὶ ἐν ὅλῃ τῇ ψυχῇ σου, καὶ ἐν ὅλῃ τῇ διανοίᾳ σου.
And he said to him, “ ‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind.’[4] And Jesus said to him, “ ‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind.’[4]
22:38 αὕτη ἐστὶν ἡ μεγάλη καὶ πρώτη ἐντολή. 38 αὕτη ἐστὶ πρώτη καὶ μεγάλη ἐντολή.

22:40 ἐν ταύταις ταῖς δυσὶν ἐντολαῖς ὅλος ὁ νόμος κρέμαται καὶ οἱ προφῆται. 40 ἐν ταύταις ταῖς δυσὶν ἐντολαῖς ὅλος ὁ νόμος καὶ οἱ προφῆται κρέμανται.
