And when he sent out his slaves to call those who had been invited to the wedding, they were even unwilling to come. And when he sent out his slaves to call those who had been invited to the wedding, they were even unwilling to come.
Again he sent out other slaves saying, ‘Tell those who have been invited, “Look! I have prepared my dinner; my oxen and my fattened livestock are all butchered and everything is ready; come to the wedding.” ’ Again he sent out other slaves saying, ‘Tell those who have been invited, “Look! I have prepared my dinner; my oxen and my fattened livestock are all butchered and everything is ready; come to the wedding.” ’

Go therefore to the main streets of the roads, and as many as you find there, invite to the wedding.’ Go therefore to the main streets of the roads, and as many as you find there, invite to the wedding.’

And after going out into the streets, those slaves gathered together as much as they found, both evil and good; and the wedding hall was filled with dinner guests.

22:12 καὶ λέγει αὐτῷ ἑταῖρε, πῶς εἰσῆλθες ὧδε μὴ ἔχων ἔνδυμα γάμου;
12 καὶ λέγει αὐτῷ, ἑταῖρε, πῶς εἰσῆλθες ὧδε μὴ ἔχων ἔνδυμα γάμου;
and he said to him, ‘Friend, how did you come in here without wedding clothes?’ And the man was speechless. and he said to him, ‘Friend, how did you come in here without wedding clothes?’ And the man was speechless.
Then the king said to the servants, ‘Bind him foot and hand and throw him into the outer darkness; in that place there will be weeping and grinding of teeth.’ Then the king said to the servants, ‘Bind him foot and hand, pick him up and throw him into the outer darkness; in that place there will be weeping and grinding of teeth.’

ἔξεστι δοῦναι κῆνσον Καίσαρι, οὔ;
Tell us then, what do you think? Is it lawful to pay a census-tax to Caesar, or not?” Tell us then, what do you think? Is it lawful to pay a census-tax to Caesar, or not?”
22:18 γνοὺς δὲ Ἰησοῦς τὴν πονηρίαν αὐτῶν εἶπεν, τί με πειράζετε, ὑποκριταί; 18 γνοὺς δὲ Ἰησοῦς τὴν πονηρίαν αὐτῶν εἶπε, τί με πειράζετε, ὑποκριταί;
But after understanding their wickedness, Jesus said, “Why are you testing me, hypocrites? But after understanding their wickedness, Jesus said, “Why are you testing me, hypocrites?

22:20 καὶ λέγει αὐτοῖς, τίνος εἰκὼν αὕτη καὶ ἐπιγραφή; 20 καὶ λέγει αὐτοῖς, τίνος εἰκὼν αὕτη καὶ ἐπιγραφή;
And he said to them, “Whose image and inscription is this?” And he said to them, “Whose image and inscription is this?”

Jesus Answers the Sadducees
(Mark 12:18‑27; Luke 20:27‑40)

Now there were seven brothers with us; and the first married and died, and having no offspring left his wife to his brother; Now there were seven brothers with us; and the first married and died, and having no offspring left his wife to his brother;
and likewise the second, and the third, unto to the seventh. and likewise the second, and the third, unto to the seventh.
22:28 ἐν τῇ ἀναστάσει οὖν τίνος τῶν ἑπτὰ ἔσται γυνή;
28 ἐν τῇ οὖν ἀναστάσει, τίνος τῶν ἑπτὰ ἔσται γυνή;
In the resurrection, therefore, of the seven, whose wife will she be? For they all had her.” In the resurrection, therefore, of the seven, whose wife will she be? For they all had her.”
But in response to them, Jesus said, “You are mistaken, not understanding the Scriptures nor the power of God, But in response to them, Jesus said, “You are mistaken, not understanding the Scriptures nor the power of God,
For in the resurrection they neither marry nor are given in marriage, but are like angels in heaven. For in the resurrection they neither marry nor are given in marriage, but are like angels of God in heaven.
But concerning the resurrection of the dead, haven’t you read what was spoken to you by God saying, But concerning the resurrection of the dead, haven’t you read what was spoken to you by God saying,
22:32 Ἐγώ εἰμι θεὸς Ἀβραὰμ καὶ θεὸς Ἰσαὰκ καὶ θεὸς Ἰακώβ;
32 Ἐγώ εἰμι θεὸς Ἀβραὰμ, καὶ θεὸς Ἰσαάκ, καὶ θεὸς Ἰακώβ;
‘I am the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacōb’?[3] he is not [the] God of the dead but of the living.” ‘I am the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacōb’?[3] God is not the God of the dead but of the living.”
After hearing this, the crowds were astonished at his teaching. After hearing this, the crowds were astonished at his teaching.

The Great Commandment
(Mark 12:28‑34; Luke 10:25‑28)

But after hearing that Jesus had silenced the Sadducees, the Pharisees gathered themselves together. But after hearing that Jesus had silenced the Sadducees, the Pharisees gathered themselves together.
22:36 διδάσκαλε, ποία ἐντολὴ μεγάλη ἐν τῷ νόμῳ; 36 διδάσκαλε, ποία ἐντολὴ μεγάλη ἐν τῷ νόμῳ;
“Teacher, which is the great commandment in the Torah?” “Teacher, which is the great commandment in the Torah?”
And he said to him, “ ‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind.’[4] And Jesus said to him, “ ‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind.’[4]
This is the great and first commandment. This is the first and great commandment.
And the second is like it, ‘You shall love your neighbour as yourself.’[5] And the second is like it, ‘You shall love your neighbour as yourself.’[5]

Question about David’s Son
(Mark 12:35‑37; Luke 20:41‑44)

Now while the Pharisees were gathered together, Jesus asked them: Now while the Pharisees were gathered together, Jesus asked them:
22:42 λέγων, τί ὑμῖν δοκεῖ περὶ τοῦ Χριστοῦ;
τίνος υἱός ἐστιν;
42 λέγων, τί ὑμῖν δοκεῖ περὶ τοῦ Χριστοῦ;
τίνος υἱός ἐστι;
saying, “What do you think about the Christ, whose son is He?” They said to him, “Of David.” saying, “What do you think about the Christ, whose son is He?” They said to him, “Of David.”
22:43 λέγει αὐτοῖς, πῶς οὖν Δαυὶδ ἐν πνεύματι καλεῖ αὐτὸν κύριον λέγων, 43 λέγει αὐτοῖς, πῶς οὖν Δαβὶδ ἐν πνεύματι κύριον αὐτὸν καλεῖ;
He said to them, “Then how does David in the spirit call him ‘Lord,’ saying, He said to them, “Then how does David in the spirit call him ‘Lord,’ saying,
‘The Lord said to my Lord, “Sit at my right hand, Until I put your enemies beneath your feet” ’?[6] ‘The Lord said to my Lord, “Sit at my right hand, Until I put your enemies beneath your feet” ’?[6]
22:45 εἰ οὖν Δαυὶδ καλεῖ αὐτὸν κύριον, πῶς υἱὸς αὐτοῦ ἐστιν; 45 εἰ οὖν Δαβὶδ καλεῖ αὐτὸν κύριον, πῶς υἱὸς αὐτοῦ ἐστι;
If David then calls him ‘Lord,’ how is he his son?” If David then calls him ‘Lord,’ how is he his son?”
